There's a lot in the media about the portrayal of women in the society. Big chest, blonde hair, easy in bed, etc etc. Ads objectify them, people criticize them, other women judge them.
Doesn't that go for guys to. Lots of TV/magazine ads have good looking guys, with hairless, ripped stomachs. TV has dumbed down and emasuculated the father figure (ie - Homer Simpson, Ray Barone)
A TV for Tag body spray shows a guy picking up his g/f, and the mom's goodies are popping out of her shirt as she is supposedly turned on by his scent. Her buttons come off, her shirt opens up lower and lower....
If there were a commercial where a teenage girl picked up her b/f and the dad had his fly down or had a bulge in his pants, I'm sure there'd be a riot, and calls for the immediate execution of those who produced the commercial.
So society, why do we hear the one side (female), but not the other (male)?
Male double standard?
with this question i think that it does apply to males as well as females. As you said with the females who are blonde, big boobs, tan etc i think society also does the same frame for males, the spikey styled hair, abs, nice body, the trendy clothes....in a sence but i believe that it varies. There is that punk standard, emo, high class, etc. But it applys and effects young girls so much more then males (eating disorders and all that, though men can and do develop them as well)
Male double standard?
well in my opinion men are looked at as being strong, not just in body but in mind too. like for ex. when a guy ends a relationship we(women) don't think that you are hurt by the break up! when that not true. so to answer your question men are looked at to be strong and woman are looked at as sweet , nice, sexy and so on
